Got this in today. These remind of the Collector's Choice Gold sigs of the 90's.

Recent pick-ups from the past month.

The gala pickups continues! Added the Silver Screen Signatures to go with the 2 other Bird Gala autos i have.

Big Red Genegraphs!

And a couple of Toine's!

Another Noir Metal frame added as well.

Haven't picked-up a Rondo card for the longest time so it was nice to finally add one.

My first 1 of 1! As a budget collector, the only chance for me to own a 1 of 1 is for a card to come from a low-end set. LOL  This acetate card from Panini Elite is just perfect for the wallet haha Plus this set only has 4 parralels. So i guess i might was well go for the "mini-rainbow" for this one.

Lastly, A nice Tatum gold to commemorate his 5th All-Star appearance and 4th overall as an All-Star starter.

Thanks for looking! Happy collecting!

Got this card a WHILE back, but never truly showed it off, wanted to get it out of the piece of crap PSA case it was in. By the way, highly recommend the black border Ultra Pro mags, beautiful:

I'm a big fan of the 08 mvp golds, Chris. The gold sig looks really sharp. Great LeBron.

What a showing, Hondo. Your gala collection is remarkable. Genregraphs and cinematic sigs are my favorite gala auto sets. I dont think you need to qualify thay JB 1/1; it looks awesome and the acetate is really unique. A 4 card rainbow isn't even mini imo, just the appropriate amount of cards for a rainbow haha

Great kemp, Abra. Such a juicy patch and the patch window is typical, beautiful flawless

Nice pickup! So many auctions I wanted to win but I have no idea how to qualify to bid on some of their auctions that requires a deposit.
Feel free to DM me if you want more info on how to bid on Card Hobby. I’ll also work on a separate thread about the site. You have to buy “chps” which are used as collateral when you bid. They are cheap and you get them back after you pay for a winning auction or get outbid.

Thank you for the kind words! Appreciate it :) And yeah, with a flood of parallels these day, a 4 card rainbow is all i can take.

Looking forward to that thread. I have heard great things (until recently) about Card Hobby but never got the activation energy to really figure out the process

3 card mailday today..a couple of off pickups that are random for my PC, but thought they were good gets.

I picked up a couple of Melo rookies. I don't collect Melo nor was I particularly looking for Melo cards, but I came across these two while searching a seller's auctions and wanted to pick them up.

Image

Image

I could be wrong but I believe these two are Melo's most limited base rookies with the Finite being numbered to 200 and the LE being numbered to 99. I think these are very cool pickups for a lock HOF'er and top 75 player.

Also picked up another Lebron serial numbered rookie, his Fleer Platinum numbered to 750

Able to complete another Penny/MJ pairing with this pickup. Highly recommend this set, it’s an insert parallel that’s actually affordable. Great embossing and foilwork which to me is reminiscent of Playmakers Theatre, except 50,000% cheaper.

I also have no idea what the condition issue is with this copy, my best guess is a scratch that’s blending in with a case scratch. Those white spots on the right hand side are just reflections from the embossing. I’ll take the additional 7 discount.

You know what, it never dawned on me, but you're right, these ARE Playmakers Theatre-esque...and no need to worry about fakes.

Yet.

By the way, is this the same EXACT photo used on the 96/97 Ultra base card? Except with a hand near his shoulder airbrushed out?

Oh wow, you’re absolutely right about the photo. When you look at his shoulder it’s a bit more out of focus than the rest of him.

Crazy that I hadn't noticed it before and it's gone generally un-noticed for all this time, I'm sure some hard core Jordan homers would already have noticed - but all this to say card designs were so diverse back then and well thought out, then you didn't always realize it was the same photo. Unlike with Panini, where it's par for the course to use the same sh!t over and over again...

Love the colors and general design on these, as well as how nicely they light up when scanned.

Continuing the Gold theme, we're got some Electric Court Gold.

...and THIS one I was really excited to get in, absolute KEY card in this set, one of the bigger rookies. Doesn't look it, but it's the Gold.

Yeah those Fleer Ultra designs are great. Fanatics need to rip off some of those designs for their sets once they get the bball license. I doubt they will though and it'll just able continuation of lazy dribbling photos like the Panini era turned into.

Congrats on adding a few more golds!

Awesome Jordan darz, looks really good with that matching wood background.

Love pickups Abra, so cohesive with each other. Are those 96-97 Ultra rookies a different design than vets? I don't recognize those cards.

That Walton patch is just awesome, Hondo! Beautiful patch with that stitching and you're absolutely right about that holofoil.

Agreed all across the board lol - I think they know that they're basically printing money no matter how crappy and repetitive the designs and photos get.

Thanks dude. You're correct, they have a different design, these rookies are part of a subset. Going to get them all at some point except the Kobe. The current prices of the Kobe are simply far beyond its actual worth lol.

Seeing the rookie encore subset always reminds me of how much series 2 ‘96 Ultra I ripped. At the time my favorite rookie was Marbury, I think I’ll add his plat encore to my ever growing and hilariously long non penny wantlist that I’ll likely never complete 10% of.
