UD HoloGRFX HoloFame quesiton
What's the scoop on these when it comes to discoloration? Is this something to worry about ongoing or can we rest easy that they won't go discolored if they're not already?

I own a copy of the Duncan and I haven't seen any indication of it greening up or anything. Have you run across any that are?
EDIT: I just did an eBay search and see several greened up copies. So I guess these are prone to that.. ugh

Re: UD HoloGRFX HoloFame quesiton
Unfortunately there are a few UD sets including HoloFame that discolor in a similar way to Finest/Chrome/Bowman's. Blows. I have the MJ AuSome (gold) version and it's def got greening going on. Praying it doesn't deteriorate further, because I've seen even worse. I believe it was at the same level of green when I bought it about 5 years ago, though. Could be a good sign?
The only person I've heard with an authority in the printing process confirm that certain cards won't discolor if they haven't yet, was Jean from Arena Design. But she was only referring to acetate cards (from Skybox, obviously. Who knows if this also holds true with acetate cards from others)
For comparison, this is the copy in question next to a standard, non-greened Kobe.

Bro that gold is SICK and the discoloration on it isn't too bad honestly, but appreciate you confirming. Look at the prices on the MJ Gold these days, lmaoooooooooo
I think it has to do with production process and also how they're stored...but still, makes me hesitant to drop any dough. However, if your card is still in the same condition going on 5 years, then that's a plus. These are probably less 'volatile' than the chromium cards and the acetates you mentioned. We've all seen the Dunk N' Go Nuts 'Gold' parallels lmao. I've never seen the titanium die cut acetates go bad though, same with 96/97 Ultra acetates. There has to be some kind of film / layer in these cards that causes them to discolor.
When I was younger I actually took apart a Finest card with a razor blade before cutting up my white powdery breakfast with it and the image of the player is actually printed on this rubbery / gooey film, almost like a Z-Cling from Z-Force and then a clear, somewhat etched acetate layer goes on top of that and then the backing is your standard paper...so there's definitely something interacting going on there with plastics and moisture.
I don't know the composition of these Holofames, but there has to be something similar going on.

Yeah I was looking at copies on eBay and slowly began noticing somewhere a little more dull looking than the others, sure enough, discolored. At some point I'd like to grab a copy and check the card out myself, just wondering if these have a particular surface / feel to them, maybe some kind of plastic / acetate involved, or if they're entirely paper cards.mindcycle wrote: Thu Aug 14, 2025 12:10 pm I own a copy of the Duncan and I haven't seen any indication of it greening up or anything.
