Re: A Rolling Mailday Thread (Basketball)
I know this set has always been one of the more popular inserts, but it took a while for it to grow on me and actually pick one up.
There are more subdued lenticular inserts, and then there's this. Reminds me of a literal bike reflector, or like it was lined with 3m visibility strips.
An interesting detail from the designer herself is that they didn't want to add stock underneath the lenticular layer to make it rigid/thicker, otherwise they'd be detectable in packs.
Which I get, but it makes you wonder why they had no issue doing it with previous lenticular cards inserted in standard thickness sets, like 96-97 Fleer Thrill Seekers, for example.
Maybe they just learned their lesson by the time Thunder was released. Anyway, as a result of using only a lenticular layer, they're fully bendable.

Nice pickup!
Had no idea about the stock on these. I know they've released a lot of paper thin cards, I.E. Prime Twine and I forget the name of the other insert, it was a Skybox one that had the same, or similar pattern to the Ultra Stars Gold. I remember when I got the Kemp in ages ago, I was surprised by how flimsy the card was.

I’ve been very close to grabbing the Pippen and McDyess Prime Twine, didn’t realize they were also super thin. I still hope to add at least one card from that set, always been on the list.AbraCalabro wrote: Wed May 28, 2025 12:17 pm Nice pickup!

Now I’m really curious about the other thin set you’re thinking of.

Re: A Rolling Mailday Thread (Basketball)
I just remembered what it was. Actually I had to go through my old Kemp scans, it's the Z-Force Rave Review. I remember when I got the card in it was so freaking thin. The Dice and Pippen are really nice. I might grab the Starbury at some point. Actually Dice has one of the nicest ones, might pick some up now that we're talking about them.darz90scardz wrote: Sat Jun 07, 2025 8:03 amI’ve been very close to grabbing the Pippen and McDyess Prime Twine, didn’t realize they were also super thin. Buddy of mine bought a bunch of basketball slabs and I picked up this Pippen off him. Always a card I've wanted to add to my collection

Re: A Rolling Mailday Thread (Basketball)
This is one of the gripes I have with Panini patches. I was looking at some Flawless patches today and even some of the lower numbered ones /5-/15 are regular foil. Like what's up with that? How are you giving me a patch /5 in a $5,000 box and skimping on the holofoil?AbraCalabro wrote: Thu Jun 26, 2025 5:01 pm Thanks dude, love this card, it's instantly one of my favorites, amazing holofoil on here too as you already know from the LBJ you have!![]()
The patch game in this thread is next level recently

Big mailday for me today. The SGA is pretty cool because it comes from a Game Used Clippers Jersey so it's a rookie game used jersey. A Cousy auto has been on my wantlist for a long while and finally can cross it off the list. Absolutely love his sig
