So here's my latest, I've picked up select cards from this set before, but I think the Row 1s look phenomenal for 98/99.

Thanks bro, I am in complete agreement. I used to have the full base set years back, it's a great set overall.

I have the VC Row 1 Legacy as well, it's my favorite rookie of his.

Got this one in recently for a decent price now that Panini 1'1/s are flooding the market, lol. For as many 1/1 parallels that Panini has put out, I feel like the black 1/1 will always be the go to for their "era" of bball cards.

First thing, thank you to mindcycle for bringing back forum style discussion for sports cards. I remember as a kid scrolling through the Beckett forums daily and making some of my first trades. Anyway, I look forward to making some posts on current pickups and posting some of the sets I have been working on over the years.

Onto my mailday. This popped up on Mercari the other day for $25 and I grabbed it as fast as I could. Then I waited until the tracking finally went active and it shipped.

Flight Team was an insert set from 2004/05 Upper Deck and was made up of 50 players. The base version of these have a blue background and were fairly common. However, there were two parallels that were a little more difficult to find. Onyx had a Smokey black background as is serial numbered to a players jersey number. There were no stated odds for this parallel. There is also a rainbow parallel which has a foil rainbow finish and a red background. These were inserted 1:1000 packs (roughly 1 in 4 cases) and odds of 1:50,000 packs for a specific player.

I love the Flight Team cards, those rainbow parallels are super nice. For $25 you got one hell of a deal on that Iverson, congrats!

I have an Onyx of Tim Duncan. One of my favorite cards of his. I’d love to add a rainbow someday but they’ve gotten a bit out of reach price wise for me and rarely come up sale anyway so I’ll probably never need to worry about it, lol.

Sweet pickup, great backdrop for the card too. Agree on the black 1/1 as 'the' 1/1 parallel for their era.

Welcome aboard! What a hit! Thanks for posting some information / history on the card for those of us not familiar, which would certainly include me. That rainbow parallel must look killer in the light!

Love that card. The laser effect juxtaposed atop the game photo is unbeatable. Not sure if you know I'm absolutely laser-obsessed. Interesting that you say that black is their go to 1/1. I feel like it's Nebula or Gold VInyl. Nebula just because of the aesthetics and gold vinyl because it is the superfractor effect.

Welcome, and what a way to start off with a bang! I'm only familiar with the base flight teams, so thanks for educating us on the set. That background is so pretty on the card; and seems really theme fitting. Nice find on Mercari! How do you navigate searching for cards on there? I've tried it a couple times but never really found anything.

I definitely like both nebula and gold vinyls. In many cases I think they look much better than black 1/1’s. The reason I associate black 1/1’s with Panini is more the fact that that parallel type has been consistently around the longest. At least as far as I’m aware. I believe 13-14 was the first time they showed up in Prizm if I’m not mistaken. Then that was the staple Prizm 1/1 until they realized they could pump out multiple “1/1’s” and no nobody cared because cards were an “investment” all the sudden, and who cares what it looked like, you pulled a 1/1! Even though it’s really not because 5 other variations exist..

I do believe 11-12 stuff had black 1/1’s as well, and maybe 10-11 & 09-10.. I’ll have to go back and look. Then I also remember when they used the black foil in stuff like Flawless and the like. Which was horrible looking btw..

Now that I think about it, platinum might be a contender as well. Although I do think I remember some years where those didn’t show up as much and were more spread out to specific releases.

That’s a great looking card. I hope we see some thoughtful inserts coming from Topps/Fanatics next year.

This came in the mail over the weekend and I am still trying to find out what it is. I plan on framing it for display in my office. There is a set of ripped apart cards from this release on eBay, but no sales. It looks like it was an in-arena giveaway from the 1988/89 season and Bill King (Bucks Director of Public Relations) taped the winners contact information to his letterhead. Other than that I have no information, but I think it is a pretty unique piece of Milwaukee Bucks memorabilia.

Sick pick up. Back when I used to player collect hardcore I'd search for additions to the collection like this. Found some pretty neat stuff over the years. I enjoyed adding stuff like this a lot of times more than the rare stuff with a big $$$ following.

Pretty big mail day for me. I love game dated memorabilia cards, especially ones tied the NBA Finals. I have the LeBron from this set so when I saw the Curry I had to get it





The next is big addition to my Westbrook PC. Finally added a 2009-10 Topps Chrome Gold Refractor to my PC. I absolutely love the action shot on this

Last mailday of the month. The late 90's jersey sets by Upper Deck are still the best memorabilia cards in my opinion. Picking them up still feels like a big deal. One day, I'd like to own one from the very set 1997-98 set, but for now, a Hakeem Olajuwon from 1998-99 will do

Awesome pickup. Upper Deck didn’t screw around on their early game used releases. Great designs that highlighted the swatch. It must have been insane to find one of these in your packs back then.

Picked up this redemption a while back with the hopes that it would be Shaq’s first Lakers auto in Prizm. Not only was it the Lakers, but it was also on card. Sometimes Panini will surprise you and get everything right.
