Re: A Rolling Mailday Thread (Basketball)
My latest card arrived today. I am very happy to add a nice 1 of 1 card from Upper Deck to my collection. I know, there are parallels 1 of 1 cards out there, but hey, it is still a 1 of 1. To have or not to have, that is the question for a collector like me. Here is my card:

Re: A Rolling Mailday Thread (Basketball)
Didn’t realize they were the first printed serials. Great info.Mostly90sbballcards wrote: ↑Fri Aug 09, 2024 7:16 amI absolutely love this set. The first Jersey cards made. And also I think the first printed serial numbered set for basketball though they didn’t include the denominator. There were some hand numbered auto cards from Classic and others before this but not other printed serials I’m aware of. Great pick up!

Completely unfamiliar with this set. When you say there are 1/1 parallels of this, there were multiple different version masterpieces, or are there backup/replacement copies that got out?Duncancollector wrote: ↑Tue Aug 13, 2024 9:43 am My latest card arrived today. Duron, did you land one of the Penny /350 spectrums off eBay? I know vaterstix also unloaded his three copies, one of each, 350, 250 and 75.

Nice dude, congrats on this 1 of 1!!!Duncancollector wrote: ↑Tue Aug 13, 2024 9:43 am My latest card arrived today. I am very happy to add a nice 1 of 1 card from Upper Deck to my collection. I think each player has multiple factoids etched into wood like that, but each of those cards is a 1/1. If you lookup Hardcourt Etched In Time on eBay you will see a ton of them, they're all 1/1s. I am unsure how many per player, but there are multiples. For example, you see the Duncan posted by Duncancollector, but there is also one on eBay right now with a different factoid and it's also a 1/1.darz90scardz wrote: ↑Tue Aug 13, 2024 3:04 pm Completely unfamiliar with this set. Re: A Rolling Mailday Thread (Basketball)
^ I saw those vater sales, but no I got it from Blowout. Old Chesapeake was looking to sell his Finite collection without breaking up, which included over 200 Spectrums. A few of them were dupes including the /350, but he was adamant about not splitting. Asian62150 wound up buying the lot and reached out to me about the Penny.
With the Etched in Time set, I only looked it up on tcdb before my question. On there it comes across as if there’s only one card. Pretty cool detail about the different factoids though. This product was smack dab in the middle of my collecting blind spot.

Re: A Rolling Mailday Thread (Basketball)
Recent pickup from a card show in July.
Got some raw basketball cards I didn't get photos alongside another McFarlane Toys HoFer. I can't wait to open this and see what it's like out of package. Easily worth the $10

I remember McFarlane Toys from back in the day with his Spawn stuff, he fell off hard back in the 2000s though.

How so? The company continued to get various licenses to make figures and continued doing so.AbraCalabro wrote: ↑Tue Aug 20, 2024 11:41 am I remember McFarlane Toys from back in the day with his Spawn stuff, he fell off hard back in the 2000s though.
NHL/NBA/NFL/MLB all have continued to be made to present day with the exception of 4-5 year gaps in the mid 2010s. New 2023/2024 SportsPicks are out now for all 4 sports.
In the last 20 years they've got licenses and made stuff for The Walking Dead, Simpsons, Halo, Destiny, Star Trek, Harry Potter, Attack on Titan, Seven Deadly Sins, Conan, The Witcher, Demon Slayer, Tokyo Ghoul, Warhammer, Call of Duty, Five Nights at Freddy's, Fortnite, DC Comics, Marvel Comics. They even brought back the Movie Maniacs with non horror stuff like Rocky & The Big Lebowski, Blues Brothers, Dazed & Confused etc.
You can't go into a toy aisle without seeing at least 2 or 3 franchises being made by McFarlane Toys.
I'm not a fanboy or anything. I like Todd's artwork on old Spider-Man and Spawn and all but I just like that the sports toys can be had for $5-$15 each on the regular.

Re: A Rolling Mailday Thread (Basketball)
I don't remember when it was, but I think maybe around 2007 / 08, somewhere around there. The Spawn line took a huge dive and he ended up killing off the forums too, might have been a little later than that, I really forget the year. I never got into the sports lines too much because I was not / am not into most of the players included in the lines and outside of basketball there was zero interest on my part, so maybe the sports lines still ran strong.FrankAZHP wrote: ↑Tue Aug 20, 2024 12:07 pm

The MM line hit its peak when he did the AvP box set and the P2 / Aliens / Alien 3 stuff - he also did the Terminator stuff, which was incredible for the time, but due to Arnie's run for political office, they had to retool the Arnold figure from T2 and it ruined the whole series, I'm not sure which MM series it was, but a lot of people were miffed. I think he also did The Matrix and T3, which looked great, there was just some point where he fell off. He did a Matrix box set with the Merovingian's chateau, the Sentinel boxed set...really incredible stuff that had no match at the time.
If you compare the stuff he puts out now to the quality of what he was doing before, especially in the Spawn lines, it's night and day. It's cheap looking plastic junk. I don't think he will ever do anything like Spawn S20, or S26 ever again, or the Spawn Covers series, The Viking Age Series 22, The Darke Ages lines S14, or The Samurai Wars S19.
Conan was also highly detailed...but the Spawn line went out with a wet fart, when he did the Adventures of Spawn bath toys and it eventually fizzled out with ... maybe series 35 which was the last series? Not sure. Been a while. I was a huge fan of McToys back in the day and also a huge fan of the comic book, which unfortunately is unrecognizable compared to its glory days when Capullo was illustrating the covers and interiors.
Seems like NECA is the king of castle with figures these days, but I haven't been into figures for many, many years, so maybe there's someone else who is doing even better stuff than what I remember of NECA.

Sorry Abra, was trying to respond to your DM but it says I need to be authorized to do so? Are you on IG (my SN is the same)? I'll probably respond faster on there. Have a bunch of Spectrum I'd be willing to sell.

Re: A Rolling Mailday Thread (Basketball)
Nothing big or expensive here. Just 2 more 90s HoFers for the Fleer & Topps slab boxes.
1991-92 Fleer Hakeem. The last year of Fleer I do before I pick back up Topps cards. Not the greatest grade but whatever it was cheap.
1992-93 Topps Archives Round Mound of Rebound. Also not the greatest grade oh well.
I love this set so much. Seeing Barkley in a 1984 Topps Baseball design is dope.

Only missing a couple more from the All Rookie Team subset, Sharone Wright and Donyell Marshall.
This one almost never shows up. Glad to have this 90s legend in.
Not missing many more of these Golds, just a small handful more before I'm done with 95/96 EC Gold. Been a fun run so far.

Ooooh damn, that is a sick Vince ultimate. Nice pickups all around though, love the mcdyess spectrum, great action shot.
Not familiar with that highlight reel set either, but same goes for the photography.

Re: A Rolling Mailday Thread (Basketball)
Thanks bro, much appreciated. It's great getting out of the 90s era stuff to find cards like this, obviously the Reignman wasn't included in these sets, so I never got into them in the past. Hoping to land my first VC auto soon.darz90scardz wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2024 7:39 pm Ooooh damn, that is a sick Vince ultimate. The Highlight Reel set is cool, flies under the radar, but the 25th Anniversary parallels don't really show up that much.
