But will a dip in public confidence and the consequences matter long term to a mogul?
In the past it hasn't, as there's a ton of powerful individuals in the hobby today who've screwed people over before the social media age.

It's sad to see, but it doesn't surprise me.

I hate to say this, but even if we all speak up about XYZ individual, it still won't matter because there's plenty of dipshits who will overlook it due to either a lack of critical thinking skills, lack of media literacy, or have a belief they can gain something including blind happiness. Cynical POV I know.

Nothing new for Geoff sadly. Back when his BO thread (which was like 2 years old at the time) was purged after I posted my "Has Geoff Wilson made money on cards" video which led to my suspension over there, Dan the Card Man reached out to him/his team who claimed they had nothing to do with it.

Given his track record of threatening individuals speaking out against him I honestly find that hard to believe, especially since the thread was buried on page 3 or 4 at that time so likely not actively being looked at by mods.. but it's water under the bridge at this point.. This forum wouldn't exist if that hadn't had happened so blessing in disguise maybe? lol



I do find it quite sad that he has to try and censor anyone speaking up against him. How many times have we seen shady individuals in the card world try to push real issues under the rug as "negative", spouting how we should only be covering positive content, only later to find out they were involved in shady behavior themselves. And that will continue to be his M.O. Guy is great at diverting attention from the real issues of the hobby so he can continue to con people.

You're 100% spot on when mentioning plenty of dipshits and their attributes. That's how we got to this point in the first place, in other words, cards becoming increasingly more expensive which led to laying down the fertile bed of opportunity for shillers, hype men, price fixers, scammers, card doctors, fraudsters, etc. Truly popped off around 2010 and it's been downhill since. No matter how many of us pushed back and even posted evidence, you had the guys who were caught denying it, friends of the guys caught denying it, people secretly doing the same thing in a blatantly obvious way...denying it and then you have the fanboys defending these losers. It's my belief that Geoff is doing this because A, he threatens people with law suits, B, these types always block people / delete comments and hide behind their equally dirty friends and C, I got banned off BO for making a PPP thread and embedding some Sports Card Radio content in the thread. Mindcycle got hit with a long suspension and who was he questioning? Geoff.

After I got banned, BO then made up a new rule and then altered a pre-existing rule.

Rule 14 was edited because of my thread and rule 20 exists because of me. Again, 20 was created after I was banned. They're censoring and someone is pushing their buttons, I suspect Goldin to some extent, but the most likely culprit in my opinion would be Geoff.

Exactly. All signs / indicators point to him more than any one else. The whole self promotion thing is a crock they're using to save face. If it's just about promotion then why did they change rule 14 and add rule 20? Both of us posted regarding Geoff and quite frankly, nothing else makes a shred of sense.

The guy has 'weasel' written all over him. He and others like him who are bleeding the hobby of others for money want to go unchecked so they can laugh all the way to the bank without any road bumps. Sadly he's not the first and he certainly won't be the last, there are more morons involved in sports cards now than there is money and that's saying something.

Totally agree, even if not directly from goldin/geoff, the two likely had input in all those blowout threads getting purged and members suspended/banned.

On a similar topic, Ken posted on Twitter recently that goldin auctions doesn't pay for third-party promotions (advertisements). Could be a technicality, but seems like an odd statement when the Blowout forums are regularly plastered with a goldin ad banner and occasionally auction emails sent out. Is blowout (other sites advertising goldin auctions) not a third-party?

Also, the weekly SCR/goldin auction Thursday isn't a paid promotion?

So this is pretty funny. Apparently Geoff Wilson's half million dollar 86 Jordan recently sold on PWCC recently for 216k.

I guess, we have to accept most influencers, especially those heavily invested in the market, have zero integrity and just care about how 10x the market will benefit them. Like awhile back, fanatics signed a popular influencers having no background with sports cards (or very little relationship) for their products (likely their breaking services). And then there was sort of a brief debate regarding what is BETTER for the hobby. (Like finding HOF for a break or people popular to the kids) And tbh, when people say what is better for the hobby, and especially it involves bringing more kids to the hobby, I have to be blunt, is the hobby GOOD for kids? For now, the only thing POSITIVE for the kid is that:

"Kids, the world is dirty and shady, welcome to it, you have to enjoy that."

In the end, I have said this many many many many times, if anyone wants to preach sports cards as an investment, especially teaching kids how to better manage their wealth, the first thing they should tell the kids, some rookie cards was $2k in 2021 and $100 now. Furthermore, buying packs is already a kind of gambling (lottery tickets) and if you are going for breaks, you are doing hedges and it is not something a normal person without knowledge should do. But well, do we hear anything from those influencers? Do we?

Great points here. IMO, Fanatics vision of the hobby is NOT great for kids. They are essentially introducing kids to gambling under the disguise of “breaking” online. Shills like Geoff Wilson will fully try to tell us how this is all good for the hobby and kids, but it’s not.

A lot of kids first introduction to collecting will be solely focused on the hope of pulling some big card “worth” tons of of money. I put that in quote because cards are inherently worth nothing until you actually sell them. 99% of them won’t ever pull anything and end up spending more than they will ever end up getting back value-wise. Casinos for kids.

It’s fully the 90’s on steroids. Instead of blowing $2 on a pack though it’s now $200.

Same as 'certain names' I won't mention who are now partnered up with major businesses in sports cards, whether certain auction houses, or grading/price aggregator/auction house entities who said garyv was going to be great for the hobby and would bring in 'more collectors' and that once the scumbags left the 'collectors' would stick around and would 'grow the hobby' even though they knew that was bullsh!t and just wanted dupes to buy their crap at high prices so they could afford higher end stuff for themselves and also laugh all the way to the bank.
