Basketball TTM Thread
Does anyone here send cards through the mail to get signed? Feel free to post your results here!
I got a phone call from my mom yesterday. "I think you got a card in the mail today." Mind you, I haven't lived with my parents nor had mail sent to them for a LONG time. It was a request from 2015! Former MLB ump and NBA ref Jake O'Donnell

That's awesome! Better late than never.
I've been wanting to get into TTMs and have been stashing all my Topps base cards that don't go into my PC into a side box for the purpose. Just haven't done it yet.
Perhaps some can share their preferred resources here and motivate me and others to start.

The best source I've found is sportscollectors.net. It costs $15 a year. Sportscardforum has a free database that's pretty good, too.FrankAZHP wrote: ↑Sun Aug 13, 2023 4:02 pm That's awesome! Better late than never.

I agree with Deadshot but I also love Star Tiger. Especially if you want to branch out beyond just sports. However, it is more expensive.FrankAZHP wrote: ↑Sun Aug 13, 2023 4:02 pm That's awesome! Better late than never.

I just started getting back into it pretty hardcore. Sure does make maildays more fun. Checking Informed Delivery has become a morning routine.

I'm a big fan of Informed Delivery! I've found a lot of my TTM requests show up there a day before they're actually delivered.

Informed delivery is really fun, outside of clogging up my emails.
I've read recently that people have had lots of success getting Dirk to sign TTM by sending to his foundation. Not sure if anyone has tried that, but I think I'm going to attempt to get him to sign...just gotta decide on which card.

No successes logged since 2018. A lot of people have tried, too.AbraCalabro wrote: ↑Sat Aug 26, 2023 8:53 am Does any one know if Coach Hardaway does TTM?

I love the inscription on that notecard! I also need to try Adelman. I loved/hated him as the Kings coach. haha...

I've been slacking on showing my returns. I sent 27 different requests out for 1969-70 Topps. Here's what I've received so far.

When I was a teenager, I remember sending a short letter to Eric Murdock (Providence/Jazz) along with a Fleer card. He signed and returned it after a few months, I believe. The card was sent in a white envelope with no protection, so a little dinged up, but I remember it as a happy memory.

Always a good feeling to get something back...Nothing is guaranteed!kingofsnake wrote: ↑Mon Sep 25, 2023 12:08 pm When I was a teenager, I remember sending a short letter to Eric Murdock (Providence/Jazz) along with a Fleer card. wow that seems like a pretty good return rate Deadshot!
curious to know how you all send the cards. i could see it being a little cumbersome to make signers deal with penny sleeves and top loaders — is there a more user-friendly way to send things that still does a reasonable job of keeping the cards in decent shape?

Re: Basketball TTM Thread
I send the cards raw in between 2 index cards. They don't always come back perfect, but it works better than a lot of people probably think it would.cookies wrote: ↑Mon Sep 25, 2023 6:08 pm wow that seems like a pretty good return rate Deadshot!

Dude, the old timers have such outstanding signatures, compared to the cave man symbols you see from modern players.

I never would have guessed that! Thanks for sharing, I’m going to give it a try with Mike Bibby.Deadshot wrote: ↑Tue Sep 26, 2023 8:08 pmI send the cards raw in between 2 index cards. Re: Basketball TTM Thread
I remember Beckett boards used to have a pretty good monthly TTM thread that I was active on for a few years back in 2003/2004/2005. Got so many good returns (baseball mostly), including HoFers from people kind enough to share addresses.

If I had started this 1969 project a decade ago when I was sending out my 72s...I would be so much further along. Can't look back now though!MittenStateCollector wrote: ↑Fri Oct 13, 2023 5:18 pm I remember Beckett boards used to have a pretty good monthly TTM thread that I was active on for a few years back in 2003/2004/2005.
