How many times has Panini recycled the 2012 Prizm design?

They always look good but Panini is really milking this for all they can. I’ve counted 5 times in basketball alone. -the original 2012 release -2020 Prizm Flashback -2021 Prizm Draft -2023 Prizm Deca -2024 WNBA Throwback autos I’m curious. What else am I missing? I just assume they have also carried...

Re: A Rolling Mailday Thread (Basketball)

That’s incredible! There’s something extra fun about getting an on-card auto in a set that traditionally uses sticker autos. I’d highly recommend leaving it encased in the Panini case to help people know it as a redemption. Great looking card.

Re: Starting a new player PC…tips & tricks.

I have so many thoughts on this topic. I’m a Celtics fan but as a collector I tend to go more towards the player collecting versus the team collecting. I have a player collection that traditionally would be consider a “super collector”. The number of releases and parallels these days almost make pla...

My Post-Finals Pickup

This is technically a mail day, but I thought I'd start a separate thread to see if anyone else has any cards they've grabbed to highlight significant moments in their personal life or as a sports fan. I'm a Celtics fan and, as you all likely know, they recently beat the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA ...

Let’s See Those All-Star Themed Cards

The AS weekend is kind of a joke, but I still live the cards. There are a sneaky number of great low to high end sets that are all-star themed though. So let’s see what’s out there. (Sidebar: I have a great idea to replace the Dunk Contest with a game of HORSE if anyone from the NBA is asking…) 8C39...

Re: Is Kaboom the #1 insert of the Panini era?

Why is it that I crap all over Spinotron in the collecting trends thread and no one responds but then we can all pile on him here? Is my vitriol towards him not respected in this space? In all seriousness, I respect the original 2013-14 Kabooms. They aren’t the best looking cards but they were uniqu...

I had a 29 card mail day from Card Hobby arrive yesterday. This is one of my favorites even if it’s one of the least valuable ones. 22-23 Elite Status jersey numbered 99/99! It was hidden in a 4 card lot that I won for under $4. 1AAA96DF-B5C5-42F5-893F-B54FC7A394E7.jpeg Nice pickup! So many auction...

Re: Collecting Culture by Sport

Spinotron is the definition of a hype beast. He spends more time promoting himself and his collection than most of the remainder of the hobby combined. Everything he produces is about why his collection is “important”. Anyone that posts multiple floating head videos on social media should have their...

The LeBron Optic Preview is super cool. Great grab! Nice to see a well centered card from that set as well. A lot of the cards are a mess in that regard.

Re: Cards Where the Player Unexpectedly Signed it Twice

[Here’s the another example. Just got the Bulls version in today. To be fair, players from Parish’s era were use to signing for UD where several of the cards were designed around autos on the patch and these vertical cards don’t have a natural spot on the card for an auto. 8CE17CFA-BC43-4BD3-96BD-10...

That’s interesting. I’ve got several cards in the 1st and 2nd gen 180pt sized mags w/ sleeves and they work perfectly. I’ve never tried any of the other sizes or any of the more recent versions.

Cards Where the Player Unexpectedly Signed it Twice

I recently picked up a 2012-13 Flawless patch/auto specifically because the player signed it twice when it was only expected that they sign it once. It made me think that it would be interesting to see what’s out there. I’ve posted a Larry Bird card here that he signed the front and back for some re...
