Rarer Logoman/Patch card?

I had ripped some modern panini cards and it makes me think, how can they make the patch card rarer? And why don't they do that? I am not a Jersey collector, but I suppose a certified game worn jersey is just the lowest tier of the collection. People will always look for rarer more memoriable items. For instance, the last dance shoes was sold 2.2m very recently.

I mean, from my understanding, many collectors have been asking a question. Like even a 1/1 logoman of a player, it is likely they are making logoman every year, (and maybe from more sets) so what makes a 2021 logoman rarer than a 2022 logoman 1/1 of a certain player? Or let's do not talk about those super high end cards, just say a 2021 and a 2022 jersey card both limited to 100, what makes 2021 better than 2022? Some have suggested, the value might be determined by what the player has done on a particular year. Like for now the most valuable Jokic Jersey cards other than his rookie year will probably be the 2022-23 year. (by that logic) But again, this is more of a preference rather than rarity. (Without the odds, we cannot say any card number to 100 is truly rarer than another assume the SRP are the same)

So we see the problem and I believe Auto and Jersey cards were introduced in the 90s, the first popular Jersey card should be the 1998 UD series. So after 20 years, as long as Panini/Fanatics seem having no problem making supply larger than demand (overprinting), why don't they just make those logoman rarer? I mean rather than having the level of game worn, player worn and frabic of a player. Can't they just make those logoman with a more memoriable piece of jersey? (I mean people talk about moder sports card crashing, isnt this a good gimmick like selling Wemby rookie year cards?)

But I guess in the end, as long as the flawless has been selling at $10k and people seems not caring there might be many more 1 of 1 coming, it seems like I might have overthought things. Or maybe they know card collectors really do not care if the patch card is from a PARTICULAR jersey.

I don't think there's much left they can do, save for telling us exactly which game the relic came from. Then, the type of game (reg season, playoffs, Finals, etc) and the player's performance can affect the desirability of the card.

1997-98 Upper Deck Game Jersey Michael Jordan #GJ13 was the first jersey patch with an auto and it was Jordan's 92 All Star game jersey. I read in a PSA magazine that the CEO of Upper Deck couldn't get a jersey from the NBA so he had to use the 92 All Star game jersey that he bought for 100k a few years earlier. The answer to this question is getting logomen from allstar and finals games, but its probably not cost effective for the manufacturers to do it. I think Fanatics will have an easier time getting jerseys from special games as the players union/team owners have up to 10% of ownership in Fanatics.

I had a former UD employee on my show and he talked about that purchase some. Here's a snippet if anyone is interested

Cost effective. I think they are making very good money. And if I were Fanatics, it will be a decent move. I mean they really do not need EVERY Jersey cards using a special jersey. Just like the Wemby Auto saying my first autograph, this is something they can do to create the hype and talkative point. For instance, in case they can ever found all 4 jerseys from the conference final (NBA final better but way harder) of Curry and making a 4 time championship jersey card of the set. (There are just so many cards they can do creative wise) I really do not know how much those jersey cost. But I guess, this will be an iconic move to define why Fanatics is better than Panini.

It doesn’t need to be rarer. I get what you mean, after the rookie year, does the 2nd logoman mean more than the 14th? Dating the jersey would be a good start.

At the end of the day, there are so few. You have player collectors, team collectors, logoman collectors, all competing for them.

Logoman, auto, plus the logoman of the tag would be cool. Logoman, game dated foil on front of the card and an inscription on the auto would be next level. Especially if it’s from a playoff of finals game.

Yes Logoman are rare. But what about patches and auto. Since I only have 90s parallel cards and usually the first year parallel is the most expensive. (Except 98 skybox rubies) I just feel like with so many junk wax auto and jersey cards, they can certainly make the mid tier patches and auto into a top tier with better concept. (Like a championship auto patch)
