An unverified story of the 1998-99 UD MJ Auto Jersey 23/23

When I read about whether card companies promote the product through sending top cards to big breakers, it echoed what I heard back in the 90s recarding the 1998 UD MJ Auto Jersey 23/23. From the owner of my shop, he shared that one of the dealers in HK had secured being the official dealer of UD in probably Asia before the set released. And it was rumoured that to "celebrate" that, the 23/23 jersey number auto jersey card would be ripped in Hong Kong. From my memory, it was really the case, one collector in Hong Kong broke a lot of the sets and he did get the card. (And people said he made a deal with the new dealer like if he ripped $X, the dealer would make sure the card was there) I did not remember exactly how much he ripped but if my memory was correct, later he was sued by his family for using family money for the auction.

Have any of you heard of this story?

Not sure. I quit after the UD 1998 Set because I put my family in debts. I contacted Spino awhile back because I remembered one of my friends back then had showed me the E-X2001 now AI 03/03 but he told me I confused him with the one holding the 01/03. (I wanna ask if he was my friend if he knew why the shop owner has been to, I own him a thank you) So not sure how things happened in these 20 years.
