Wanted to start a thread for folks who are actively working on sets (base, parallel, insert, any of them) and wanted to share the set name and progress (including links to want lists) so we can help each other out if possible.
For me, its the 1997 Metal Universe base PSA-graded set chase (minimum grade of 8). I'm down to my last 19, though the biggest one remaining is the promo sample Grant Hill. I'm suspecting I'll need to find a clean copy and grade it myself and hope for the best.
Who else has a cool set project they are working on?

Just started my first set build only have one card so far the Allen Iverson. The 1997-98 Flair Showcase Row 3 set! Fav set all time so many memories as a kid ripping the set, if I found my childhood collection I would be way farther along lol

I love set collecting, one of my favorite parts of collecting. So satisfying to complete one, although I've never completed one that was difficult or took a long time to build.
@MittenState That'll be such a pretty set all together with the varying colors and such. Do you expect to have to grade the Hill because PSA 8s are rare or hard to come by? Are you going to try to find copies at shows to inspect quality or buy from online marketplaces and hope they come in good condition.
@BstCards Also a very pretty base set. I love the two photo design of Flair Showcase and even now Panini's best base designs, in my opinion, are the ones that feature two photos of the player.
I'm currently working on four or five base/insert sets that would be pretty easy to complete by just using COMC. But my main set chase since 2018ish is the 2015-16 Preferred Statline Memorabilia Prime set. It's a 26 card game dated patch set from 2015-16 preferred. I have 23 of the cards and just need the last 3:
Dirk Nowitzki
Klay Thompson
Kemba Walker
Would love if anyone could keep a look out for any of those three.

These are the main sets I want to complete at some point due to a combination of sheer design appreciation and the fact I got the Jordans out of the way early:
I have a few sets I’m chasing but 17-18 Panini Essentials Platinum is by far the most difficult I’m doing. It’s 200 cards and the platinums were SSP, said to be around 10 each. Luckily I started this chase early on and I’m only 15 cards from completing it!
Here’s what they look like for reference.
Still need:
7 Damian Lillard - Portland Trail Blazers
18 Zach LaVine - Chicago Bulls
34 Giannis Antetokounmpo - Milwaukee Bucks
35 Steven Adams - Oklahoma City Thunder
52 Jordan Clarkson - Cleveland Cavaliers
72 Brandon Ingram - Los Angeles Lakers
76 Jaylen Brown - Boston Celtics
106 D'Angelo Russell - Brooklyn Nets
120 James Harden - Houston Rockets
138 Seth Curry - Dallas Mavericks
139 Lonzo Ball - Los Angeles Lakers
149 Donovan Mitchell - Utah Jazz
157 Kyle Lowry - Toronto Raptors
160 Victor Oladipo - Indiana Pacers

I've thought about doing one of the stat line sets, but I think I'm too late to the party to be able to get some of the superstars without breaking the budget. It's such a cool concept, I'm glad someone is working on doing it.

Now that I know what these look like, I'll keep an eye out in the bargain boxes at my local show and shops. They are notorious for overlooking any parallels from the non-prizm sets that aren't numbered, so I might get lucky and find one.

I don't have the numbers at the moment, but I'm casually working on these patch sets:
2012-13 Panini Innovation - Stat Line Prime
2013-14 Panini Innovation - Stat Line Prime
2021-22 Panini National Treasures - Retro Materials - Prime

Hi all, I'm currently building the 2004 Fleer Showcase Hot Hands (non-patch). It's a 15 card set, seeded at 1:192 Hobby packs and 1:480 Retail. Currently own 12 out of the 15. And these are the last 3 that I need:

Thanks man, as a patch collector, and someone going for the set, I definitely agree that the concept is cool. I've always loved the idea of owning a piece of game worn memorabilia, and it's way cheaper than purchasing a full jersey obviously. And a card that has photos and stats from the game in which the jersey was worn? Just works together so perfectly.
I think you're generally right about the price of them, though. I'm certainly glad I got a lot of the ones I did before the boom. Now even non-stars are not cheap. There was a time when I was buying non-stars for $10, but I think being far enough removed from the release of the set combined with the boom have really run them up. They don't come up often so it's hard to say but I haven't seen them crash like other cards have. I'm definitely hoping these last three are attainable at reasonable prices.

Lol, thanks man, but I think I have the Kemp, Zo, MJ and D-Rob.
No problem dude, let me know if you need the Vince Carter, I think he was also in that set.

You’re a sly dog, but so am I.
Why else would I lie about having the Kemp already?
I'll get you one of these days...

I am working on the following 2 sets:
2007-08 Stadium Club Super Team #/50 - Been working on this set since 2007. Only need the following teams:
Atlanta Hawks, Charlotte Hornets, LA Lakers, and Minnesota Timberwolves, New Orleans Hornets.
2009-10 Topps Chrome Refractor #/500 - The challenge for me is trying to not pay superstar 2021 prices for people like David Lee and Josh Howard. Still need the following:
#6 Paul Pierce
#11 Gerald Wallace
#12 Raymond Felton
#22 Jason Terry
#23 Josh Howard
#27 JR Smith
#35 Ron Artest
#38 Danny Granger
#43 Eric Gordon
#49 Rudy Gay
#63 Chris Paul
#64 David West
#65 David Lee
#67 Russell Westbrook
#72 Jameer Nelson
#83 Greg Oden
#91 Jose Calderon
No problem dude, let me know if you need the Vince Carter, I think he was also in that set.

love hearing about collectors’ projects.
this is cheating a bit since it’s parts of multiple sets, but i’m working on all Sacramento Kings Topps Chrome gold refractors from 2001-2005 (or black in the case of 2001 and 2002).
mostly finished with 2002-05 except for a few Bibbys and a 2004 Doug Christie. but only have one of the 2001 black refractors /50 so far (Chris Webber) so plenty left to do there.

I updated my earlier post with the Innovation patch pics. Those are slow-moving set builds, but thankfully I have a few big ones knocked out.

Enjoying seeing everyone's set chases.
I'm down to one card on my Pacers team set for 1998-99 Topps Finest No Protector Refractors. Just missing Reggie. It's a common theme in my team sets.

I'm building the 2013 Pinnacle Clear Vision master set. Always looking to pick up ones I'm missing. This is my main set project so it's fitting its my first post here on the hobby boards.
Currently have 405/500 possible and 33 completed player rainbows.
Just finished the Bird today, the cards look like this:
It's a 100 card set and the base set and parallels are broken down like this:
1st quarter (blue/base)
2nd quarter (red/36)
3rd quarter (purple/24)
4th quarter (green/12)
Overtime (black/5)
