Player Collector Updates

I thought this thread would be a good home for player collectors to share their progress and/or key cards they are looking for. Or we can just complain about the unnecessarily large rainbows.

I just spent about an hour organizing my checklist and binders to get my Jae Crowder PC up to date. I added the 2021-22 Flawless and 2022-23 Optic releases to my spreadsheets. I am at over 1100 unique Crowder cards and almost 85% of his entire checklist. I've gotten over the 85% mark before, but it drops when a new product releases. The latest release, Optic base, has 46 parallels. Some real ugly ones too.... Copper Glitter /99?!? GTFOH

Anyways, here's the front page of my checklist where I track my progress.

And if you're curious, here is a link to a video I threw together for the Wax Museum Podcast that goes through how I develop my own person checklists. If you have a player in any of the sets that Crowder is in and want a checklist for that rainbow just let me know. I have them all setup in a spreadsheet and could forward it on to you.

I gotta get me a spreadsheet going for Rashard!!!! I’m slacking! I only wish they put him in a Prizm release just once lol

This is something I’ve considered but all it would do is make me want to buy more frequently. I do have a raw doc that catalogs my collection but if I knew exact percentages I’d be compelled to spend and become even poorer.

I mainly collect 90s inserts and the ones I still want most for pc guys are always fresh in my mind. Last thing I need is to hang more carrots.

I have a spreadsheet for my graded 90s cards. I have ripped some modern cards, really cannot feel them, so I end up going back to 90s parallels. And I limited myself to buy cards that are

1: From parallel sets I already have.
2: From players excpet Antoine Walker that I have more than 5 cards from my shameful 97 collection.
3: If I have not used my monthly budget, I can look for parallels from 97-99 but only the players from condition 2. (So no inserts no relics)

So, my goal is to get as many cards I already have as possible. But let's be realistic, my buying power does not match my goal.

I have a spreadsheet that lists every Lakers Pau Gasol card (that I know of) in order of year barring patches and autos. I tick them off as I acquire them. I then have another tab on said spreadsheet outlining any patch/auto that I own. I know I’ll never own every patch/auto so I don’t bother listing them all like I do with the base sets.

I assume all you player collectors are connected on TCDB???
I like the feature showing the ranking among other collectors of the same player! I have 70 Rashard on the way to grow my total to hopefully bump me up the ladder. It also has a roundball collection in it which was discussed on Jakes latest videos with Mike(glenrice guy)

Thanks for this! I'm not a completionist when it comes to my player collecting. And as my collection has matured I've found that I'm really only interested in cards from Kembas charlotte days.

Ive been trying to workout how to develop a checklist and search function to highlight specific cards released i.e logomans, 1 of 1s etc. So this will be pivotal for me moving forward.

Many thanks

I’ve tried tcdb but it’s awkward to navigate and enter info… I have mine on tc-collector but I’m terrified the site will just be gone one day so I’ll need to update onto something else soon

Agreed. It seems unnecessarily tedious to build out checklists there. Also someone claims to have about every Odom 1/1. Perhaps they do but seems unlikely?

This is what I work with on tc-collector. I stubbornly didn’t collect printing plate when I first started collecting Brewer so I’d say close to half if not more of the 161 cards I still need are print plates 🙄

Just checked and only 61 of the 161 I still need are print plates…

Old man alert. I'm one of those guys who stopped when Panini took over, so my collection is definitely incomplete at this point, but I need to go thru and do a proper inventory.

I use TCDB for most stuff now, but back in the day I used to use this for my Majerles:

I use Google Sheets pages to track my progress on my Ben Wallace Topps and Bowman paper and chrome set progress as well as my Upper Deck flagship. Link to the Topps/Bowman sheet is in my signature.

The Upper Deck progress is pretty minimal, because I was focusing on Topps and Bowman for a long time. But now I'm down to under 20 cards for the Topps/Bowman master set building so, time to switch focus.

Just saw this and thought you'd want to know. "Reasonable" price too:

I PC Jrue Holiday, and I'm trying to maintain a complete Revolution Galactic run of his. Currently need 2015-16 and 2020-21.

I collect David Robinson from all years, and have a little more than half of the ~8,300 entries on my spreadsheet. I'm willing to chase just about anything of his, but do avoid his post playing-years sticker autos.

I PC Khalid El-Amin, who is a fellow Minnesotan and one of my childhood heroes.

I have about half of his rarest stuff (/100 or less), most of which I acquired in the very early-2000's, but am still looking for the rest.

My current El-Amin grail that I'd LOVE to locate is a 2000-01 E-X Essential Credentials /21.

I was always fascinated by guys who kept detailed spreadsheets. I just went by memory and when in doubt, I’d search my page to see if I own the card or go through my binder. As years went on, it resulted in me buying a few doubles but less that you would think based off of how unorganized I am with my pc. I like my method because every now and then I see a card I didn’t know existed and it gets me hyped

I do have a spreadsheet for my player collection, but it is quite basic and it hasn't been modified since 19-20 (because no new cards). I'm up to 2,702 unique cards and am only missing 35 non-1/1's.
