Speaking of, if no one’s seen an In the Paint refractor in hand before, you might wana try dat.
100% agreed regarding the In the Paint refractors. I own a McDyess but have been looking to add a Duncan for awhile. They’ve become a bit pricey as of late, unfortunately.

Went to a card show and a toy show over the weekend. Picked up a few nice cheap Optic color slabs.

Trae is actually an upgrade. Couldn't remember whether I had one, turned out I had an 8, so the 8 will go into my sell/trade box.

You should share that in the 22-23 chronicles thread on here. Love the lines (curves?) on the vet design this year. And the green foil looks awesome.

I'm a huge fan of greens in optic, they're so vibrant. Beautiful card.

How do you go about selling or trading your cards? At shows?

Short answer: I have what I call the "sell/trade box" which is really a series of boxes of stuff that sits on a shelf and I never sell any of it but none of it goes into my PC. :D LOL :D

Long answer expanding upon short answer:

It consists of:
6 graded card shoeboxes of graded cards
2 graded card shoeboxes of singles in card savers
6 normal card shoeboxes of sleeved stuff

My goal with slabs was to get to 1000 and then open a "Basic Store" size eBay store which has 1000 free fixed price listings per month. One main reason why I wanted to do this with slabs is I avoid having to deal with PWEs, and avoid (most) people complaining about condition like they do with raw cards. It's taken me since September of 2019 to get 461 total sell/trade slabs. This isn't including the 83 I've sold or traded already (I had an ebay store shortly during pandemic when I was furloughed from work so a decent amount sold then). I've got a spreadsheet on them so I keep track of ROI. Most of it is all under $20 slabs that I bundle from sellers on combined shipping while picking up PC stuff for me.

But for raw stuff, I still have a lot of I need to organize and sort that I've had in boxes since the 90s and 2000s, like two 3200 count boxes of full sets I hand collected in the 90s/2000s (including good stuff like 1996-97 sets [UD3 set comes to mind as I know that's in there]), and also like 3 3200 count boxes of stars/semistars etc I had sorted by team or player. Eventually I'll try to sell those sets or part them out and keep what I want and put the rest of the raw I don't want to keep in the singles in card savers boxes.

I'm actually getting a table at a card show next weekend for the first time since 2016. So I'll try to sell some there, but other than that I'll just keep waiting it out as it's not a huge space concern. A lot of oldheads who like the 90s stuff would have a field day going thru my raw stuff. Lots of odd parallels, odd inserts, TONS of HoFers. Would be a gold mine for them. Problem is that the majority of buyers of cards now don't know what they're looking at with my stuff, so although some of it may be worth a decent chunk of change, I'd sit on a lot of it since most people want the new hot Panini stuff and a VERY VERY SMALL percentage of what I have (for PC or in sell/trade boxes) is Panini. I only do Optic for the PC as a Chrome replacement, but have no Panini other than that.

I'd like to offload all my sell/trade raw stuff to focus on only graded for sell/trade stuff, but since I'm not in a hurry to offload or desperate for the money it just hasn't been a priority.

Nice Velocity. I never took a good look at 03-04 Showcase, that card is giving me 98-99 Row 2 vibes. Pick number in background instead of jersey number.

Here’s one I got in a couple weeks ago but never got around to posting, these were 1:145 but routinely go for a few bucks.
97-98 Collector’s Choice Starquest 4-Star Platinum

Catching up on this thread and I see lots of good stuff. Those LeBron rookies....WOW.

And that Ben Wallace patch is great. You're right about that set. Don't see it much at all. I like the fact that it's All-Star themed, too. Sometimes the ASG pieces end up in random cards, but this one was supposed to be there!

Barkley stuff was tough then because there was such a small window between Fleer signing him and them going bankrupt. That's a good one!

Here's a nice Court Kings patch I picked up recently. The bottom of the card was crimped in the pack!

I don't do much pre 90's stuff, but I wanted to add some Star Basketball cards back to my collection. I used to own a Charles Barkley 85 Slam Dunk BGS 9.5 but sold it during the Pandemic. I came across these while looking through Ebay auctions and was thrilled to win the auctions. The Nique photo is SO awesome!

Nice pickups on the Stars, and agreed on the Nique - one of his best action shots captured on a card.

Killer Star cards Chris! I was going after XRC’s of the more popular guys from the 80’s years ago. Might have to pick the chase back up.
