I remember reading this thread and thinking to myself that the hobby has become a shit show. It was hard keeping up with all the facts and understanding everyone's motives but glad Verona had some resolution in the end.
To be honest though, the real problem is the shipping services. The thieves that work at these places have been getting away with stealing cards and there's nothing that can be done about it. It's been happening more and more nowadays, with no positive outcome.
It's definitely a shit show and I'm also glad that Verona got some resolution, but it was such an unsatisfactory ending. Although I did find some consolation in the fact that this card that scum bag Gerald moved for 170k later sold for 12 mil+
On your second point, I think there is at least one service out there now that will physically acquire the card(s) and hand deliver them for a fee. It's interesting that we've come to this point, what used to be a sleepy little hobby is now such a racket that this is even necessary. Mindcycle mentions something like that below, but I know of another one.

The thing about that 12.9 mil sale was it was all a big marketing ploy for Kevin O’Leary and Shyne150 (aka Matthew Allen) to promote a new startup called Secure, where they acquire cards for big spenders. All they had to do was “buy” the card for a record price and then the whole hobby, news outlets, etc.. talk about it for a week.
Pretty smart business move, but imo, with the added benefit of having all these clueless influencers and other new entrants speculate on the future value and also subsequently talk about all the other “high end” cards that will surely be worth more now. It’s all so nauseating..
He's always been a major douche, if you look up Gerald / Hairy Trojan you'll find there's some fun reading to be done, although HK is offline and I think whatever thread it was is long deleted, my favorite part was the 6'8 power lifter part, but he's more like a hobbit. Regarding people talking about how great he is, they're all like that, that whole clique is full of people who dislike / hate each other and they all have dirt on one another, that's why none of them will ever speak out. On the public scene, they're buddies, but there's really no love lost among them...and they're trying to screw one another all the time...figuratively speaking.
If that's what Shynejob and O'Leary are doing then it's probable that the prices on cards are going to continue to get artificially spiked and you'll have more corporate / private equity buying cards up at astronomical rates. When all the higher end super rare stuff is impossible, they will move to your PMG, Credentials, Rubies, Legacy, etc... We'll see what happens. Shynejob is buying up high end Exquisite for a reason.

Likewise, Comrade Hallco! Yeah, got 86'd on BO, but at least they honored and immortalized me by creating a new rule AFTER they banned me.
If I could turn back time
