Re: A Rolling Mailday Thread (Basketball)
I know this set has always been one of the more popular inserts, but it took a while for it to grow on me and actually pick one up.
There are more subdued lenticular inserts, and then there's this. Reminds me of a literal bike reflector, or like it was lined with 3m visibility strips.
An interesting detail from the designer herself is that they didn't want to add stock underneath the lenticular layer to make it rigid/thicker, otherwise they'd be detectable in packs.
Which I get, but it makes you wonder why they had no issue doing it with previous lenticular cards inserted in standard thickness sets, like 96-97 Fleer Thrill Seekers, for example.
Maybe they just learned their lesson by the time Thunder was released. Anyway, as a result of using only a lenticular layer, they're fully bendable.

Nice pickup!
Had no idea about the stock on these. I know they've released a lot of paper thin cards, I.E. Prime Twine and I forget the name of the other insert, it was a Skybox one that had the same, or similar pattern to the Ultra Stars Gold. I remember when I got the Kemp in ages ago, I was surprised by how flimsy the card was.

Very excited for today's mailday. Slater Martin Flawless Game Used Patch numbered to 5. Very cool patch card of a Hall of Famer!

Got this in yesterday. Love the Flood Parallels in Obsidian. This is a Yellow Flood of Joker numbered to 10 from 2021-22 Obsidian

I’ve been very close to grabbing the Pippen and McDyess Prime Twine, didn’t realize they were also super thin. I still hope to add at least one card from that set, always been on the list.AbraCalabro wrote: Wed May 28, 2025 12:17 pm Nice pickup!

Now I’m really curious about the other thin set you’re thinking of.
