Re: Do you watch modern basketball and do you collect modern players?

Since the Pistons have been mediocre to bad (mostly bad, and more recently, just awful) since I started college in 2008, I really haven't had the desire to collect any panini era sets for active players outside of my Pistons refractor/prizms chase so I can continue to have a similar style card for a...

Re: Fanatics Live - Gambling culture and the sports card hobby

I know that "gambling" gets used somewhat loosely when it comes to describing the process of paying for a sealed product and hoping the cards inside are worth enough to justify the price paid for the unopened product, but in a very real, legal sense, breaking can be considered gambling and...

Re: Basketball TTM Thread

I remember Beckett boards used to have a pretty good monthly TTM thread that I was active on for a few years back in 2003/2004/2005. Got so many good returns (baseball mostly), including HoFers from people kind enough to share addresses.

Re: Rovell: "NFLPA Cancels Panini Deal, Giving Fanatics Exclusive Rights 3 Years Early"

Has anyone seen a stated reason for why the NFLPA is leaving early? My general belief has been that Fanatics tried to get Panini to sell out early so they could take over the licenses now, and when Panini didn't give favorable terms, Fanatics started trying to undermine them at every turn to put fin...

Re: Active Set Building Projects

I'm building the 2013 Pinnacle Clear Vision master set. Always looking to pick up ones I'm missing. This is my main set project so it's fitting its my first post here on the hobby boards. Currently have 405/500 possible and 33 completed player rainbows. Just finished the Bird today, the cards look ...

Re: Best repository of pack odds

These are player-specific odds pulled from Blowout for inserts/parallels featuring Jordan that were 1:1000 or tougher. Kenfancypants originally posted it. For the most part they’re accurate. Can just pull the number of cards in the set from Trading Card Database to get the standard pack odds. Altho...

Re: Active Set Building Projects

I have a few sets I’m chasing but 17-18 Panini Essentials Platinum is by far the most difficult I’m doing. It’s 200 cards and the platinums were SSP, said to be around 10 each. Luckily I started this chase early on and I’m only 15 cards from completing it! Still need: 7 Damian Lillard - Portland Tr...

Re: Active Set Building Projects

I'm currently working on four or five base/insert sets that would be pretty easy to complete by just using COMC. But my main set chase since 2018ish is the 2015-16 Preferred Statline Memorabilia Prime set. It's a 26 card game dated patch set from 2015-16 preferred. I have 23 of the cards and just n...

Active Set Building Projects

Hey all, Wanted to start a thread for folks who are actively working on sets (base, parallel, insert, any of them) and wanted to share the set name and progress (including links to want lists) so we can help each other out if possible. For me, its the 1997 Metal Universe base PSA-graded set chase (m...

Re: Player Collector Updates

I use Google Sheets pages to track my progress on my Ben Wallace Topps and Bowman paper and chrome set progress as well as my Upper Deck flagship. Link to the Topps/Bowman sheet is in my signature. The Upper Deck progress is pretty minimal, because I was focusing on Topps and Bowman for a long time....

2022-23 Upper Deck Extended

Wondering if anyone has ripped a hobby box yet and what their thoughts are. I've seen the write-ups on the YG acetates but wondering what those who have hands on the product think so far?

I actually put together a rudimentary google form for just that purpose lol.

Re: Best repository of pack odds

I purchased a Tuff Stuff Standard Catalog for football resources. I settled with a 2006 edition. I wasn't worried about the prices. But it offers a full checklist of every set for most practical purposes. Most releases also have some release information and alot of pack odds. I found a used copy fo...

Re: Best repository of pack odds

Beckett is pretty good for set odds. I’ve seen some on there that aren’t on boxes, wonder how real some of those are though. My ideal arrangement is to have the source of the odds noted, whether it is from manufacturer website/post, photo of a pack itself, or from a third party source such as Becke...

Best repository of pack odds

As a side quest to my collecting, I've been working on updating pages on TCDB and it got me thinking about whether a website exists as a comprehensive list of sets and corresponding pack odds. Lately, my go-to for this information has been looking up hobby boxes of a particular set on Dave and Adams...
